Three cities in 2 weeks

So after the two weeks in the west coast, we continued our journey to western europe and headed to Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels. Paris was gorgeous, Amsterdam was touristy, but Brussels was quaint and sweet - literally with belgian waffles and chocolates everywhere you turn.

Its amazing how many beautiful buildings and architectures in Paris that really after a day or two, you feel really lost in between them, what I really meant is really they all look alike ! Everywhere you turn, there are the same buildings that you already saw like 15 minutes ago or perhaps we just went back to the same spot as we circling the city. Check out the wall sticker that we got from one of the store.

We split the Paris stays and headed to Amsterdam when Francis got a chance to meet his old BFF after 10 years, the picture below is one of the building on the canal not the Jumbo Rest. in HK.

Then Brussels afterwards to check out the old cobble stones city with their famous chocolate and yet we found this picture right in the center of the gay area.

Trained back to Paris and spent 2 more full days and finally had the last dinner right inside the smallest studio apartments that we ever stayed at yet we managed to create a dining room.

We know it has been almost 8 months since the last time we actually blog BUT we promised to keep it updated. It has been a busy year exploring new things here in Asia. Well, let's get it started then !

So that day after went to the Chanel Mobile Art, that very evening we flew to San Francisco starting our two months US-Europe vacations !
SF and LA were the two cities the first two cities, same old same, same fog and clouds in the bautiful SF bay and same attitude in LA but we're glad we did the trip, caught up with some good friends so it was totally worth it !

We rented a studio apartment in downtown SF with a huge walking closet and full kitchen, it was pretty big for a studio around 800 sq. ft.

In LA, we pampared ourselves by staying at the fully renovated SOFITEL right across from Beverly Center and the good thing is we can actually take a quick cab ride to weho (really don't want to drink+drive again). After the two weeks west caost trip, we jet to NY for a couple of nights before heading to Paris and got to experience two of the newest boutique airlines : Virgin America and L'avion.

Chanel's First Stop

On the day of our departure to the U.S. - we made it to the opening day of the Chanel Mobile Art display in Central. It was an amazing audio/visual art display featured inside a futuristic-space-ship structure. The first stop of this world-wide exhibition is actually in HK - and the exhibition will end in 2010 in Paris. Other stops are Tokyo, NYC, Moscow. So we're lucky to get the first look before the rest of the world! Glad we caught it before we headed out. Very cool, if you're in town definitely go check it out (till April). Unfortunately no photos inside so can only share with you images of the exterior of this cool structure! Enjoy :-)

only 2 more weeks before it's time for us to head back to the States...at least for a few months. It's kinda strange for me to 'visit the U.S. from HK' when the past 15 years I've only "visited HK from the US". And I can't believe we've only been in Asia for merely 6 short months. We've seen and done so much this past few months, I'm amazed myself. Not only have we visited Bangkok, Bali, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Guangzhou, Jakarta, and of course Macau / Shenzhen... all in 6 short months - I actually freelanced and launched a local ad campaign... I'm pretty amazed myself. heheh

It's hard to wrap up everything in one blog entry so I guess I'll let pictures tell the story... :-)

The Mother of all children

So basically I have no ideas why I put that subject above. Its just crossed my mind at this second. Hk is getting coller these days afterall winter is coming but thank GOD is not going to be as dramatic as NY. We have gone through winter in NY three times and I think that is more than enough !

I wish I can write more and expressing myself to this share online diary that I have with Vince for almost 3 years now. Its nice to read everything back again what we have done so far and also those pictures that we put which most of them we took it with out own camera. YES they are real !

We did travelled a lot since the past few years. We wanna be citizen of the world but its pretty hard to maintain that status for a long time. Don't we all want to settle somewhere ? Somewhere that we can find our favourite places to crash and burn. I do realize whenever you live, you face the same people, especially the queers. Attitudes, the 'fabalously', the ones who act like the others, the bitchiness, afterall we all are QUEER !

We just saw Beyonce last weekend at the Venetian in Macau, girlfriend rocks ! Although we didn't really like the whole producation and not as xcited compare with Gwen. Buildings are being built everywhere in Macau, just imagine Las Vegas 10 years ago and imagine Macau in the next 10 years.

got the iPod touch (one each)... both of us are addicted...

saw francis's fave gal Gwen in concert in HK

had a great housewarming party (can't believe we made so many friends already!)

and heading to see Beyonce at the new Venetian in Macau in a couple of weeks!! Can't wait!!

Asia - here we are

Are we 'home'? Honestly, having lived away from Hong Kong for most of my life... coming back and living here is less like HOME than experiencing a new foreign country for me. Which is fascinating although there's still quite a bit of adjustments.

We were lucky and found a great apartment with a nice ocean view...

And traveled extensively since we arrived. First we went to Bangkok. I tell you, the design sensibilities of the city is remarkable... from the malls to even the little hole-in-the-wall restaurants. There was so much to see and it's so much more developed than I had imagined...

We then jetted off to Malaysia and KL. We stayed at the mandarin oriental which was very nice and elegant - great service BTW - highly recommended if you visit KL.

The Petrona twin towers there have pretty much become my all time favorite skyscrapers now - edging over the Chrysler Bldg... it's truly spectacular and breathtaking against the skyline - like 2 silver bullets. Overall KL was a gorgeous city as well...

F went back to Indonesia a few times and was great for him to see his family. As for me, of course, my parents, grand-dad, and cousins are estatic about my return.

So far, I would say we are still adjusting to life here - but hey, we don't call this blog the ADVENTURES of Vince and Francis for nothing!!

And on the last night we took in the sights and sounds of E.village with a last meal at one of our fave restaurants mo pitkin's... famous for their fried mac and cheese (altho the portion's pretty much shrunk to a 1/3 of it's original size since it opened)...

Our 'last supper' was unfortunately accompanied by an obnoxiously loud geeky-garage-type rock band... which we could have done without

So it's been over 6 months since we last posted. We had left you guys at the end of winter in NYC and...now it's Oct 07, it's almost winter again - except this time we're living in ASIA. Yes yes, how times have changed. :-)

In the past few months, we moved from the Big Apple to Hong Kong - home sweet home for me and 'closer to home sweet home' for F. Yup, big change and it's been an amazing experience.

After packing all the necessities which needed to be shipped over (god forbid they don't sell Garnier shampoo in HOng Kong...):

...we jetted off for a last-hurrah trip to the West Coast - starting with Seattle mainly to visit the original Starbucks..

And up to beautiful vancouver...

Where we stayed at a boutique hotel with HORRIBLE service... and a very bitchy front desk woman :-P (yes, that's the one in the picture)

... then all the way down to Vegas...

Yep, great trip indeed, perfect before our big move to Asia!

Last weekend it still looked like we're in the dead of winter. I guess it's like 80 degrees in Hong Kong right now. :-)

so we're planning our move right now - including going through our closets and dumping stuff we don't want. it's incredible HOW much clothes 2 gay guys can collect... stuff I don't even remember we had. we dug out 8 large plastic bags worth of clothes to try to sell to buffalo exchange -- the rest i guess we'll just donate.

or 4... not sure, it's really been a while since we updated our blog. Lots have happened since November - of course Xmas / New Years and all of winter. we've also changed our life plans as well, since now we have finally decided to move to Hong Kong this summer! it's gonna be a big change I must admit (esp the humidity and weather - i think that would take the most adjusting to). at least we'll definitely lose weight over there :-))

so we went to New Orleans last weekend. it was both our first time and it was fun - although quite creepy. I actually just woke up from a dream set in a "New Orleanish" place - in the dream I saw a few tornados and I immediately looked up what it meant online. Something about unpredictability or disasterous future or something - I don't really believe in it. I'd rather think of it as a 'new beginning' and wiping out the past.

We actually went ahead and took a Vampire Tour, it was very interesting and very well worth it. I think it's mainly because the guide was an amazing story teller...

He dressed the part with long stringy hair and a pale face. He was wearing a cape! But I think the most interesting thing is that he has genuine interest in the history of vampire-like activities in New Orleans.

Here's probably the most haunted house in the French Qtr. It used to house a pair of brothers who kidnapped people and brought them back to their house, (second floor here) and skin them and drank their blood thru straws. They would torture their victims and will use acid to decompose their bodies and throw into the missippi river... chills...

Yes It has been a WHILE

OMG ... We know We know ... been really lazy but hopefully we will continue doing it

In the past three months we have been travelling so much and the last trip was one of the longest ones. I (F) made the Round The World Trip for 24 days visiting Jakarta, HK-Macau, Shanghai and Tokyo. V himself visited everywhere except Jakarta. I did transatlantic and transpacific on the way back.

It was nice finally got to spend time for almost 2 weeks with family and especially got the time to hang out really at my hometown in Jakarta. It changed so much since I had left almost 9 years ago. Lots of apartments buildings, new shopping malls and there is this movie theatre called 'EX', so basically its a regular movie theatre but You get to orfer food and eat-drink while watching the movie in the very nice and soft reclined leather chair complete with the blanket. It was such an experience and I think You can only find it in Jakarta which makes me feel a little proud.

HK is always the same - very lively and FAB. - got to hang out with my sisters since they went there as well to meet V. Went to Macau which is very fascinating, they have the WYNN hotel there and supposedly the hotel makes 6 times more profits than the one in Las Vegas !

Shanghai is one of the most developing city these days, got to experience the MAGLEV-the fast magnet train from Pudong airport for 8 minutes ride to the station close to the city and the fastest speed was 425km/h. So basically the train itself doesn't touch the rail and it runs on the magnetic strip.

We don't like Tokyo as much, no english was widely spoken and also the people were really like robots (no offense in our opinion the way they greet people its like they are speaking to themselves)

Overall the trip was GREAT. Love the first and business class cabins - of course I got good deals but definitely ritish Airways and Northwest are one of the best seats in the business not so much on Continental.

Little Miss Sunshine

So we finally watched it and it turned out to be good !
It tells you about the up and down from the regular family life in a daily basis and how important to be a winner than a loser
I thought Greg Kinner has the best acting by far although Toni C. was pretty good not sure about others but definitely the little miss sunshine whom dance like a stripper at the end of the movie

Vince's Birthday

So last night was V's birthday and we celebrated at the 'around the corner restaurant' - Dumont/

The food was fabalous as usual, that was the second time we were there and I am sure we will go back for more.

Check out the V's birthday cake - (I was so surprised! F got me this amazing Tag Heuer watch as well!! - vt)

We are still unpacking stuff and this weekend will be finishing it up and relax.

We are getting used to the big space and its been great, just have to train the babies more to 'do' their stuff.

First Day of the month - Second Day in our new home

So we finally moved into the house in Wburg. It has been almost 48 hours, I counted it as per hour since we didn't have too much sleep-had to deal with all the boxes and also the whole thing about the new enviroment including being outside your own backyard whenever you want !!! YAY !

Our babies seemed to like the bigger space for them and options for them to go indoor or outdoor, definitely its a big plus-with laundry inside the house and everytwhere is so spacious-at least a lot larger than our previous nest.

We are looking forward to rearrange stuff and definitely a new neighbourhood here in Wburg.

Weather has been really nice after the stormy storm last week.

So we finally ended the weekend watching 'Strangers with Candy' very hilarious movie with lots of different characters and actually it was a tv show and they did a movie of it. There is one Indonesian person character in the movie since one of the writers is Indonesian. V was the once who wanted to see it and it was really entertaining.

The night before we actually went out until around 4am in the morning (haven't done that for awhile)-we started going to XES Lounge in Chelsea to celebrate one of our friend's bday party and continued at one of the east village's karaoke place with some friends which was very fun !!!

We went to this Southern Food Restaurant called Maroons in Chelsea, the food was excellent-the fried chicken is to die for-the empanada is one of the BEST in the city

So we finally went to her concert for the second time ! She really rocked the house. She started with future lover's song with moving horse background and she came up from this huge disco ball and became like a tree.
She sang most of the songs from her new album including JUMP and she ended it with HANG UP
It was a good 2 hours show and last night was her last show in NY and she is going to continue in Europe with 8 SOLD OUT show in London alone !

We all wish her well and have a healthy concert considering she is 47 now and she has to still jump and dance all over the stage !

I think summer is really finally here ! Yesterday was awful and today is worst ! And I've heard tomorrow will not be better
After fighting with the heat inside my office which was around 105 degress considering it was 95 degress outside since one of the AC is not working, thank god i have my own little fan below my desk and its helping me a bit

We finally went to Dumont yesterday to have lunch in Wburg which is a block away from our new house. We are really excited to move next two weeks and decorate our new place.

People are a lot friendlier outside the city, they even welcomes us to their neighbourhood - strangers who sat right next to us when we were having lunch yesterday at Dumont. We did also finally try Relish a day before and again, we had the same experience. People are not trying as hard, they are more real and definitely friendlier.

So this week will be a busy weeknights for us . .starting tomorrow, I (F) will be going to have dinner with my coworkers, it should be nice and Wed. will be the Madonna night - yes we are going to her concert for the second time with bunch of friends, Thur. we definitely want to go out and enjoy the LES area before we really leave, they opened some new rest and Friday-V wil l try to get me in to the Asian Film Festival Event. John-one of our friend will have his bday party at XES Lounge that should be fun as well-love the outdoor part. And will end it on Sunday night-Dynastea Event from the GAPIMNY organization.

Can't wait to write them all in this blog.

So we spent yesterday strolling around town and spent another few $$$ on stuff for the 'new place'. We were careful not to buy anything that we can't take with us eventually since this is only a rental. It seems that all the stores in the city are 'on sale' -- tons of great deals at PBarn and C&B. But we gotta be careful -- don't wanna over do it since we haven't even moved in yet!

Last night we hung out with our friend Courtney and her 'posse'. :-) She just got a cool new job at a photographer mgmt agency and we're so totally happy for her. She was in such a "devils wear prada" situation before and now she's 100 times happier. Anyways, was nice to chill with everyone and ended with wine on our rooftop - 360 degree views of the city -- we'll miss that for sure when we move to Billburg.

Speaking of the move, we actually took the step and sent out that e-vite for our housewarming party in Aug this last Thursday -- and a few people responded already -- should be a blast and really looking forward to it!

Gonna head to Cafe Gitane for brunch and then hang out around town again. Maybe take Buffy and Rocky to Tompskin Sq Park first to play. :-)

TGIF

It's been a crazy week this week, although it's only a 3 day workday - but boy o boy the drama at work... whew. Not gonna go into it since everything is 'confidential'. Let's just say "TGIF!!!!"

It's such a gorgeous day today and just supposed to get better this weekend. After full two weeks of gloomy / rainy / sticky / hot weather - today it completely cleared up and BLUE SKIES once again.

Last nite we went again to our fave BYOB in the LES called Orchard. IF you haven't tried it out, it's a MUST TRY. Amazing flatbreads although the $24 risotto is little bit of a rip off...

So a few weeks back we went to one of our friend's partners' book launch party in Hells Kitchen. He's a 'master chef' and published a book on "environmentally conscious cooking" - interesting huh? Such an "LA-minded" book published by an old time (not old mind you:-) ) NYorker. Here's a picture of the cake featuring the cover of the book.

4th of July Weekend

Finally the weather cleared up - after a whole week of rainy / nasty weather, it's actually sunny and summery -- even a bit breezy and cool. Can't wait to spend this weekend out and about.

The rain didn't stop us from grabbing a bite this week. Trying to take in as much of LES and EVillage before we head out to Williamsburg in August. So we went to our favorite Peruvian restaurant for dinner on 1st Ave (or is it Ave A). Anyways, they have the most amazing and affordable meals. We always have a great experience there.

So right now it's super-sales season in the city I guess, sales everywhere. Got a couple pairs of shoes this week and gonna grab some shirts over the weekend. Trying to dress more 'professional' -- know what I mean?

Can't wait to check out Superman and Devil Wears Prada this weekend as well - probably gonna see them back to back :-))

Wknd @ Home

Finally, after traveling so much recently for work - finally, get to spend a nice quiet weekend at home. And with this nasty weather, there's no better place to be than the comfy of our apt. No matter what F says, I think our humble LES apt is still nice and cozy - although I'm just as excited to move to our bigger place in Williamsburg. :-))

Last nite we went to see The Breakup. I was originally gonna pass on this one, not a big fan of either V or J and the premise seemed predictable. But it was actually a pleasant surprise and turned out to be quite good. Should have guessed when the theater was fully packed even if this is like the 3rd week in release. I think it's definitely worth it and make you appreciate your relationship more -- actually a thought provoking 'date movie' vs. a 'chick flick'. Also the movie makes Chicago such a hip/romantic city.

Anyways, supposed to be heading to a friend/colleague's place in Hells Kitchen later this PM since his BF is publishing a new recipe book on 'environmental friendly cooking' -- interesting, very "LA" kinda thing but in NY.

Gonna really chill tonite and spend some quality time at home, loving it.

Williamsburg in 6 weeks

It has been almost 3 weeks after we came back from Europe. Time flew so fast and we can't wait for our next long trip back to Asia.

So We had decided to move from FAB. LES after 2 years living here and we found just right outside the city-2 subway stops on L train in Brooklyn, an area called Williamsburg. All N-Yorkers know where is Wburg but not necessary people from other cities. A lit bit about Wburg is the combination between LES and East Village with less 'pack of people'. LES really became 'tourist attraction' for people who are visiting from all over 5 boroughs. Its still cool and fun but at the same time we feel like it is time to discover another part of the borough so we happily choose Wburg.

This 1500 sq ft. (YES ! it is a true BIG living space) 2 floor duplex suite with 3 bedrooms and 2 full bath, including full kitchen, washer-dryer INSIDE the house and the highlight of the house is the 350 sq ft additional backyard with the swings !!!
Our dogs will love it as much as we do !

We never really lived in a private house before except kinda renting a room in a house OR apt. so this will be a good experience for us to maintain the big space.

We are so looking forward to it and definitely will have more PARTIES !!!!

London Last Night

The last night in London, we went to see Mary Poppins -- the ultimate brit stage show. I loved MPoppins since I was a kid so I had to force F to sit through it with me. He actually fell asleep during the first part of the show - :-)

London and Paris... baby you can't keep...?

:-) Ok that was a cheesy title for this blog entry, but I just had to do it... :-)

Got back this Sat night from our long awaited trip to London & Paris. Hard to blog the entire experience. It was definitely time well spent and the experience was made that much more amazing since F got us such a great deal on the airline and hotel.
The highlight of the trip was actually the flight there. Since F got us the ultimate first class experience on a boutique airline called EOS - basically all the seats on the plane were first class and you have your own personal space. It was amazingly private and you get to lie down flat to sleep.

It was great. The food was amazing as well. Truly first class in all regards. Not only that we got to check out the Emirates first class lounge before the flight -- what a great send off!

Arrived in London refreshed. The city is energetic and bustling. So cool to hear British accents left and right (obviously) and the cab drivers were so NICE compared to the ones in NY. (well they DO charge double the price I guess).

Checked into the ultimate hip hotel called the Sanderson. It is one of the Morgan Hotels, you know, the Mondrian in LA/Hudson in NY etc... very hip (a bit too hip to be honest) and happening. THe room was amazing as well, all white with an electrical pink curtain to divide the bed and bath rooms for just that touch of color.

London is an interesting city. It's energy, very European, but it totally reminds me of Hong Kong! The street signs and the mail boxes on the streets look just like the ones I grew up with in HK.

And boy are they proud of their Queen... it's all about the Queen there. The Queen's land, the Queen's garden...etc...etc... all about royalty. It's fascinating at first but gets old quickly.

The food ain't so amazing in London but we did manage to go to a wonderfully fabulous Indian restaurant in an outside area called Vauxhall. That's also where a bunch of larger / factory style gay clubs are located. We actually went to a pre-opening of a new one called Area. The space was cool and the sound system was amazing. The crowd... not so. :-)

3am in London

yes, it's the middle of the night, ie 9pm in NY. Second day and in London and did quite a bit today. Getting a kick out of the British accents and the Brits in general - they are a funny bunch, often acting like their out of their minds and half drunk. It's funny to watch them dance and joking and childishly playful in their 'refined' accents.

tonite we actually ventured out of central london area down south to Vauxhall - just to explore life outside of the touristy spots. the area is totally 'local' and actually had a wonderful (and for once not overly expensive) dinner at an Indian restaurant in the area. Vauxhall is actually home to the city's 'underground' gay area with a sauna and a couple of hard core / afterhour type clubs. We actually went to one of the neighborhoods newest clubs called Area, which isn't even supposed to open till July. It was open tonite for the post white party crowd. Was interesting, the people were definitely local and the sound system was amazing. It is still under construction and the bathrooms still smelled of pre-painted wooden walls.

took a bus home, (didn'tknow the tube closed at midnite!) and now ready to sleep. 2 days in London, one more day to go then off to Gay Paris... oh, but not before seeing Mary Poppins the Musical tomorrow!! So excited!

We are finally here !!!
It is around 7P here in London and had walked around Soho, Theater District and also Oxford Street which is about half block away from our hotel, the Sanderson.

We flew on the new eos airlines which is EXCELLENT !

With the flat bed suite and 5 star cuisine on the 757 aircraft with only 44 passangers on board, We landed around 8A this morning at Stansted Airport which is around 45 minutes train ride north of the city. Took the Stanted Express and change to tube then taxi to the hotel.

This weekend is actually a long weekend as well in the UK since Monday is a Bank holiday so supposedly tonight and tomorrow night will be very crowded with lots of people from all over the world.

Overdue Vacation

Europe here we come! :-) Never been there, extremely excited to go. We're leaving this afternoon, took the day off to get ready and pack.

Last Friday F and I went to have dinner at the Hudson. the food wasn't bad, actually it was surprisingly YUMMY, with garlic fries to die for. We originally sat outside but when it began to drizzle, we headed inside instead - it was nice and clubby and the drinks were really amazing.

With the opening of the Apple store in midtown, we headed up to 5th & 57th to check it out. We realized that NYkers have an innate fascination with chain store openings... the people in this city seems deprived of 'middle american experience'. Trader joes and now Apple store. There was actually a line in front of the store that Sat morning. Of course, since getting up to 57th isn't an easy task (so many subway stops...), we made it there and so we also stood in line. It was funny since this girl walked up to the line and asked, "What is the line for?". I said, "To get inside the store." Her face was blank, she probably thought we were morons. "I know, it's stupid." i said, thinking that will redeem ourselves. At least the wait wasn't too long, soon we entered the glass encased boxed entrance that lead downstairs to the store.

This Apple store is supposed to be open 24 hrs a day. Interesting, I guess god forbid the artsy musician / filmmaker losing their connection in the middle of the night.

So we were in DC over the weekend for work and F tagged along. We finally decided to fly instead of taking the train and driving since we thought the driving is going to be a pain and left the two babies at home again. Supposedly we will bring them together on the road trip - maybe next time.

Hotel Helix has one of the most colorful rooms from all of the hotels that we had stayed at. 350 sq ft. with the cute curtain divider between spaces. trying hard to be hip and hollywood... The location is great though - within walking distance to the gay clubs/bars and also a block away from whole foods and 7-eleven is around the corner.

There was actually a nice bar close to the hotel called Halo.. not sure if it's new or what, but it was pretty cool - reminded us of XL but newer and spacy-er. They had the most amazing Cucumber Ginger Martini I've ever tasted... soo freshing. I think if they actually had a BAR inside of a spa, this would be the signature drink.

Just like Will Smith said on his song, we finally went there last weekend. It was a great experience but a couple of nights is good enough. Water was nice and people are friendly although most of them in South Beach are tourists.

We stayed at this Design Hotels owned by Jonathan Marr called Town House. Very white color building and very white everywhere, location was right next to the giant SETAI building and a couple blocks away from the Delano.

We got to check out all the hotels and like the Shore Club better than the Delano. Raleigh was also nice. Something about the hotels, We feel its a little to tacky when you see bunc of toursits and 'wannabe' hanging out all over the places.

The first night, we had dinner at the FAB place (at least from the city search) say so hehe .. called 'fish at the avalon' okay food, we thought that it is a tourist trap but it was a nice experience just to hang out outside by the ocean drive.

We didn't do much the first night since we don't really want to waste the next day. After had a really good breakfast in our hotel, we decided to hang out on the beach that morning, too bad it was a little to windy so we walked around washington and collins avenue when all the stores were open and finally had a FAB. lunch at this local hang out cuban Restaurant called P&S, delicious and affordable.
At around 1P, the sun was totally out and the wind died down a bit so it was the right time to be by the water so yes we did it for almost 2 hours and got a nice tan.

Later that day after a quick nap, we did the collins strip after checking our the roof top at our hotel with the free drinks that they provided, first stop was the shore club-delano and ended up had dinner at Social located inside the Sagamore hotel, they served delicous tapas. The meal was SUPER affordable... :-)

We did check out the TWIST gay club afterwards on washington avenue to end the night which we thought was just okay.

We checked out a little early the next day and headed out to Fort Laudardale to check out the city. Went to this little town called ... and drove around the downtown area. Didn't do much there since we planned to go to the outlet just outside the city. Got some stuff of course after got a little lost and finally went to the airport.

It was such a great experience from the lively South Beach to the not so busy Fort Laudardale, definitely Florida has much things to offer.

New York Auto Show

Amazing rides, although to be honest I don't really miss owning a car, so much responsibility and so much of a 'waste' owning one in the city. I'd rather spend the money on car service.

Rainy Weekend

DAMN ! It was sunny and hot on last Thursday and it became really cold the next day until today.
The rain finally pour again for the longest time starting yesterday and it just stopped.

I know its been almost a week we didn't do the blog since busy of course with stuff and being so lazy ! hehe ..

Last weekend, we finally got to check out the W-Burg again and its actually its not bad walking to the other train station which are J/M/Z line instead of taking the L train since we just literally live off the Wbrg bridge. Checked out some cool stores and the other side of the main bedford street when all the artist live, It such a cool place.
Got some vintages from the japanese store which has some stuff on sale of course and we just had to get it since its so hot :)

On Sunday, we finally went to Woodburry Commom by taking a train and came home with a bus. I would reccomend to just take the bus roundtrip since the train from the city you kinda have to change in Secaucus junction and then take cab from the off station to reach the outlet. Some GOOD deal of course, Barneys NY-lacoste-TUMI-BanRep etc .. got some summer stuff for ourselves and still can get over it until we left the outlet. Weather was great but unfortunately some stores were closed since it was Easter.

Something really about shopping in NY, don't buy retail !!! ever ! Sure its up and coming first its launched but wait until a couple of months when they have a big SALE, the prices would drop like you can ever imagine how good deal they are.

We started this weekend a bit mellow since the weather is not promising at all. Went to this DIner at Tribeca, good 'diner food' if you know what I meant but the crowds are very local which is always good and headed up to Tribeca Grand Hotel since they had the store rent sale for only 1 day and unfortunately the stuff is for gurrllsss ... so we left sadly !

Finally we ended the Saturday night with bunch of friends had dinner at the OLIVA right close to our house and continued it to Hotel on Rivington for drinks. Although it was pouring last night, the restaurant was packed and of course the bar at THOR is really really crowded as usual but luckily we live a block away so we just crashed after a long FAB. night !!!

so I took Friday off work (although was still glued to the computer all morning), it was nice to just hang out and relax. The weather was kinda crappy though so F and I headed to catch up on the two movies we've been waiting to see...scary movie 4 which opened this weekend was hilarious... although the scenes poking fun at War of the Worlds wasn't 1/2 as funny as them making fun of Tom Cruise and his psychotic episode on Oprah. I thought the first few SMovies were better though.

then we hopped, yes hopped, over to see Friends with Money, you know the movie with Jennifer Aniston and those 3 other actresses.. heheh you know it's all about JEN, actually she wasn't half bad. The other actresses were strong but Catherine Keener, she's really my favorite. She just rocks the screen in whatever movie she's in... she's someone you want to see MORE of, and should have a starring role sometime soon.

The highlight of the movie-going experience, for the two of us E!-watching, celeb-sneering guys, was the 'sighting' of Natalie Portman in Friends with Money. The theater was quick packed and full and she came in kinda late, and was forced to sit all the way in the front (we were kinda in the front as well), and all the way against the wall. It was funny when she tried to smile sweetly to the girl in our row who was saving seats for friends, that girl totally ignored her.

You can tell Ms. Portman was looking for a sign of 'recognition' or 'excitement' from those around her, but no one gave a damn (this IS new york afterall - not the celeb-obsessed LA from wherence (??) we came) except for us.

The Orchard

This place is voted one of the best BYOB restaurants in the city. last night we hung out with our friends G&J and had dinner there.

Before dinner we met the duo (and their str8 duo friends) at Epstein's bar, corner of stanton and allen -- and of course, since we are on the hip&happening LES, we spotted B-list celeb elijah wood -- yeah, that's right the hobbit from LOTR. he looked 12 with a backpack and carrying a huge camera -- i guess he's an aspiring photographer...

i guess everyone is 'aspiring' to be something else they are not, ie no one is satisfied and the grass is always greener. :-)

The Orchard really has great food. Their flatbreads are to DIE for and their tuna tar tar, one of the best and most unique i've ever had. And because it was BYOB, it probably cut our bill by at least 30%. We grabbed 3 bottles (2 white and 1 red) at September (a hip wine shop) just close by and didn't even need to wait for seats.

Half drunk (some of us fully drunk), we took pictures of these four asian girls (i think they were korean) and joked that they were the Asian version of Sex in the City, had to post their pic in here:

F and I will definitely go back there again during the week.

p.s. Stanton Social is overrated, went there at 8:30 they said first thing they have is 11:30p. whatever, the place is way too 'touristy-sceney' -- ie. the Ivy of the LES.

Spontaneus Philly Trip

So last Saturday after the long rainy day we decided around 3P to take the 5P train to Philly. Again, another quick spontaneous trip.

When we got there the rain has stopped and we were able to actually enjoy the last hour of the sun before its dawn.

The Rittenhouse Square is definitely has to be visited when you guys come to Philly. A little cute park surroundings by these old artistic buildings.

Stayed at this historic Park Hyatt and got a junior suite right in the city center.

It was a bit cold than we thought, we headed out to ALMA de CUBA, the same owner of Morimoto that just opened in MPD area in NY.

The food was great and the athmosphere was very chic and stylist. Check out the 'cigar desert' that we had, they even lighted up part of the desert and it does look like a real cigar (or a piece of shit) ! Excellent !!

The next day of course the blue bright sky finally came out after a long day rain the day before,

we started the day to check out the most popular brunch place for locals called JONES. Again, the food was amazing and the atmosphere is very zen, most of the colour inside is green and it really makes you feel very relaxing. Philly is actually one of the city in the eastern US that has a lot of good restaurants to offer.

Got some stuff for ourselves, shop again like we always do :))

We also checked out the South Street when the stores were open, last time when we were there, most of the shops were closed because we were too early. it really looks like Haight Street in SF, lots of funky little stores plus the vintage stores.

So overall it was a good trip for us, its exactly 24 hours we were there and definitely taking train is one of the most convenient way to go.

Another Beautiful Weekend

YES, finally after a long a** cloudy day !

We started the day walking our two babies around the block before we headed out to this hidden restaurant called FREEMAN located on Freeman Alley right in between LES and NoLita

Delicious food and the crowd is very funky-sophisticated. Had the lamb sausage and poached eggs with grilled tomatoes and of course V had to start the weekend with a lil 'drink' it and he got the baked egg with cheese and spinach, it sounds really delicious but believe it, its upgrade !!!

Headed to SOHO before Central Park to feel the new bloom spring flowers and leaves. Fifth Avenue as usual packed with shoppers (locals or tourists), got a wallet for myself after accidentally washed it in the washer.

NY is always great every seasons, there are always something new .. either restaurants, shops, unique set of space like coffee houses-bakeries-eataries.

April Fools Weekend

It's Saturday night, and want to catch y'all up on our goings on. On Friday I went to Coney Island for the first time -- it was actually still quite chilly (even colder than the city actually!) - but I did manage to head over to the very Original Nathan's hot dog for a quick bite after the meeting and before heading back to the office.

Last nite we headed back to that 'all you can eat meat' place in Tribeca -- Churrasica Platforma - didn't overstuff myself but did take a pic of their cool wine room.

After dinner, walked over to the SOho Grand bar for a quick drink before headed home -- didn't see any celebs that night though although S.Johannsen is rumored to hang at the bar there. P.S. if you want a free copy of Timeout, they have them for free at Soho Grand. :-) (I know cheap chink tip) :-)

This morning was actually nice despite the warning that it would 'thunderstorm' throughout the day, apparently it didn't rain till like about 2p when we snuck into the theater and saw two very CHEESY movies... Failure to Launch & Basic Instincts 2... I know I know, you guys are probably questioning our film choices - but hey , we need see Thank You for Smoking when we were in LA... that was a riot and more 'arty' than our choices this weekend. Anyways, by then it was raining outside anyways.

Before the movie though, we went to the gym (yes especially after last night's all-meat dinner), and headed to Nolita and checked out The Market where local designers get to sell their wares... it's kinda like walking into a Project Runway casting waiting room... $39 for a little bag with skulls - what a rip off. :-P

Afterwards, we passed Happy Paws, the pet store on Lafayette that actually cut Rocky's tongue when we took them in for grooming, to pick up doggie shampoo. They were actually holding a doggie birthday party in the store. It was interesting, a bunch of dogs and their owners - interesting how the dogs were interacting with eachother more than the humans. There was even drinks, chips, crackers and cheese for the 'humans'. I mean we love our Buffy and Rocky, but... a birthday party is a bit much...

Tonight we were lazy but forced ourselves to head out for dinner, try a new restaurant on Ave. A. A spanish Tapas place between 1st and 2nd. Was actually quite good... a bit pricey for those small little taps but the food was really amazing and the drinks were spectacular -- first time drinking a pomergrante cocktail. Was definitely yummy!

On the walk home, we see spring in full bloom...

which inspired us to pick up some flowers (we're both not really 'flower people') for the house. What a great way to ring in what is supposed to a GORGEOUS Sunday tomorrow!

BTW< the only "fool" that happened to us today was probably the two cheesy movies back to back ;-))))

Last day in LA

On Sunday, we met up with one of my best of friends, almost family, mr. CB. Since he is Mr. Master-DJ-Producer-Entreprenuer, he actually let us put his picture on here. :-) Here he is on the balcony of our room...

Afterwards F and I headed to Santa Monica to enjoy the rest of the day... what a gorgeous day it was. I've been lucky the last few trips to LA -- always went there right after the rain stopped and the sun came out, which means less smog and clear skies!

After Santa Monica and before the airport, we did one more shopping run and checked out the new Paul Smith store, a huge pink building on Melrose.

And then finally to Kitson, supposedly the 'in' store for celebs. There were these half naked male models as 'live mannequins' -- we wanted to take a picture up front but it was a bit cheesy to do it, so we just took a snap across the street.

Overall the trip to LA was great, productive and fun and exciting at the same time!

Sat Day in Sunny CA

So within a weekend in LA, F and I did sooo much -- went all over the city.

Started the day with brunch with my "older sis" S for brunch at the Ivy - the celeb hangout -- no sightings that day but F did have a $45 lobster pasta... heheh Was worth it tho, Ivy is something to be experienced if you've never been.

After that we headed around Weho on Robertson and Melrose and did some shopping. I can't believe we've never shopped in those boutiques before. But I guess our 'fashion sense' was Banana Republic for him and thrift-store chic (uhhh) for me. :-) This time we headed to Marc Jacobs to check out their bags, and I bought a cool messenger bag - the most I've ever spent on a piece of accessory.

Then headed to beverly center, grabbed a Coffee Bean and continued shopping.

Our hotel room was filled with shopping bags after we were done, I guess that's when a jr. suite comes in handy.. :-)

Saturday night, after a day of exhaustive shopping, we headed to an art conference function in Pasadena - great food and open bar (although didn't drink since we were partied out the night before) - amazing set up and even Pink's hotdog were there - talk about LA-style catering!!

ie....5:30AM in NY. Boy o boy, what a day. It's been super hectic all day prepping for our client's event in Koreatown -- an upscale Korean event for an upscale cosmetic company SKII -- amazing turnout and even more amazing nibbles!
Before the event and prepping -- which I thought would never end... F and I headed to the ultra hip Hugos for brunch -- I ordered their incredible Breakfast Pizza and F ordered their also very goood granola pancake (sooooo LA i guess).

Just came back from Weho with F and YJ, a colleague and friend from my company. YJ has never been to LA / West Coast and was quite taken by the sites/sounds of Weho-- the Abbey and Rage (ie. gamboi tonite). I haven't danced for a while and it was nice/refreshing to sweat sweat sweat.

I didn't reallize how incredible relaxing LA can be that I'm back. I guess after a year and a half of living / working in Manhattan, 70degrees sunshine and claim quiet streets isn't such a bad thing anymore.

I guess F told you guys about the start sightings thus far. it's weird, we ran into so many celebs in the past two days - since they really only come out during the week, like of like celebavampires... I don't expect to run into many tom (sat) or sundayl.

So we'll be heading to the Ivy tom for brunch with my friends S and M (not S&M...) Looking fwd to it. F confirmed our flight on Sunday which will be a red eye and gets in at 7am on Monday. Which means we have all day / night sat and all day sun to hangout. Looking forward to finally enjoying the weekend!!

Sunny California

So today is our second day in LA and the weather has been FAB.

We are staying at the Sunset Tower hotel formerly the Argyle is one of the oldest building in LA area on Sunset Strip. Got a junior suite with a balcony overlooking the city. What I like about this hotel is they RENOVATED it , it looks old from the outside but the inside its full of new hi-tech technology with the retro looking furniture, loved it !!!!

So today we woke up pretty early since V needs to do the conference call at 7A PST, we started the day to grab starbucks across from our hotel and we saw the woman from the 40 year old virgin whom she plays the character as a HORNY bitch at the electronic store. We turned around and it was Michael Vartan behind us...and so we were in a celeb-wich... well c-list / b-list celeb-wich. :-)

Although yesterday when we got to our hotel, Kirsten Dunst was waiting for the valley PRIUS car that she is driving.

You see so many of them really randomly in the daily basis but look for the right places.

Just came back from dinner with my boss and client. went to the new "iron chef" restaurant Morimoto at the Meatpacking District - actually sat at the 'bar' area with celeb chef Morimoto making the meal in front of us.

not really a fan of 'iron chef' it wasn't as exciting as some of the others in the party. Anyways, for min $200 per person, not sure if it was worth it.... lotsa cooked fish and not much raw/fresh stuff - which was surprising. The most exotic thing I had was Cod Sperm...here's Mori holding up the 'sperm' --- ewwww...

Unreliable Subway System

I am SURE that NYorkers know what am I talking about !
I know it's great, you can catch the subway right outside your apt. bldgs and also from the biggest department stores in NY, the grocery stores so You don't have to across the street when its cold snowy winter but s*** sometimes the trains really wanna make you puk ! It stop in the middle of the track so many time eventhough its express because there are so many construction that they are trying to fix for so many years.

Some trains are really smelly especially when you have those dirty compartments with a lot of unnecessary 'stuff' hangin on the ground, also on the seats that make you really think, is it safe to sit on the seats ?

NY really needs to makesure that the train is in good conditions, if you go to HK, Japan, Europe when the trains are built for a real people even in SF, DC and Canada, trains are a lot cleaner. Don't force me to talk about the subway tracksin NY, God seriously it will never end !!!

Shopping Weekend

We started yesterday and completed it today. So much fun shopping together and we can actually wear both clothes and accessories, that is one of the good thing about being a gay couple with almost about the same size of clothes.

We got a lot of stuff this weekend, oh boy ... from spring and summer t-shirts to another pair of shoes and also V's work shoes. I got my bag and also my laptop cover. We haad to thorw away our old shades and got at least 3 more pairs for spring/summer tihs year.

It was pretty windy and cold today but Soho was packed with shoopers, the good thing about NY, there are so many 'deals' out there, You just have to find a right time and a right way to get them. Reading and Browsing internet for deals are one of them, of course from the mailing lists that the stores wanted us to spend money, another good way is looking for those SALE SALE SALE signs at the RIGHT stores though.

It was such a fun weekend before heading to LA.

Trader Joe's Madness

Ok, so we thought NYorkers have a 'seen it all' attitude, and we snickered when the San Franciscans lined up around the block for H&M back during Thanksgiving Last Year.

But boy today it's NYorker's turn. A Trader Joe's.... yes Trader Joe's -- the organic market we frequent when we're in the mood for their NYork Cheesecake and where my mom always ask me to go and buy her vitamins and dried fruits whenever I go visit her in HK -

Now one opened in NY, and not just anywhere but in Union Square, just steps away from the Whole Foods down the street... at fraction of the price!! No wonder the lines were so LONG this first week it's opened. A taste of CA right in the middle of NY - it was a bit surreal.

We debated whether or not to line up... but hey, we just had to experience it just so we can claim, "Yes we lined up for Trader Joe's."

The first thing I noticed when we got inside was the market staff, it seemed like the prerequisite for working at the store is: "Cheerful and highly caffinated struggling artisty types living in nearby E.Village or LES - borderline hippie strongly preferred."

Joking aside, the staffers are definitely way hip(pie) and cooler than the ones in LA (yes, you self confident Angelenos, even the ones working at the one on La Brea) --

The store was obviously so swamped all day that almost all the shelves were empty by the time we got there - that's probably why they kept unloading tons of boxes from from outside the store.

Spring Yet?

What a nice day today - sunny and crisp blue skies - although the temps are still about 40 only, so it still feels like winter.

Woke up so friggin' early this morning at 6am, for some reason F's been waking up so early these days. I love it early weekend mornings cuddling in bed with our two little doggy-babies. Since F got his laptop, instead of reading books in bed, we've been emailing and browsing the web next to eachother in bed, so 21st century of us...

We headed out for a day of shopping... to celebrate F's new job! :-) Headed out this morning and noticed that they tore down that old synagogue on Rivington, thought it was interested, the inside of building is totally exposed - had to take a pic and share with you all.

So we ran into some incredible deals today, the main one is the HUGE Lacoste sale at Bloomingdales!! It was sales + 40% extra off!! we couldn't believe it. Lacoste almost never goes on sale and you know it's a great find when you are fighting with the Bloomingdales staff THEMSELVES over the shirts of the rack... the cashier said that this is such a big sale, even the employees themselves are all over it - we ended up with six different pieces - that'll last for a while.

Keeping up with the Lacoste theme, F went ahead and bought these coolass glasses (Lacoste) as well, they are so hot!

We also picked up a Nespresso machine @ Sur La Table in Soho - have wanted to get one for the longest time,

After a day of shopping uptown/midtown/soho, we ended up having the rice pudding @ Rice Riches in Nolita, have always pass by the place -- it's always looks interesting but never tried it... boy have we been missing out. We ordered a double "french toast / chocolate chip" pudding with espresso topping. Quoting my fave foodie Rachael Ray... Yum-O!!! I'll definitely sneak back there.

Another Weekend in NY

So I didn't have to work this weekend and will never be ! I Have my blackberry on all the time anyway so I can spend some quality times together with V.

Saturday was FAB, 65 degress and sunny bright bkue sky. We wen around the city and had brunch with one of our friend 'E' at Cafe Gitane in NoLita, they had the best couscous there, its very authentic french/morrocon taste. We decided not to take the dog to the park since we took the mlast week. Went window shopping in uptown and checked out the new Container Store in Upper East Side. We didn't go out last night and V cooked for us a great chinese food. I am so satiefied :))

We finally got to hang out again with 'C' after almost three months since the christmas party that one of our friend had and definitely will hang out more with her gang soon.

Can't wait for LA trip in two weeks ! Really wanna try out the P.S United flight coast to coast since I have been selling and promoting it for a while, I've heard a long of good thing about them.

Headed to SoHo on Sunday morning, it was such a nice clear day! But before that went to our 'fave' dimsum restaurant Ping's on Mott St. Haven't had dimsum since we got back from Asia so that was great!

Clear crisp day in Soho...

So as you guys know the Oscars were handed last night at the Kodak Theatre. We went to Club Pressure close to U-Square to celebrate with many gays/lesbians community called In thelife. It was really nice, they have these four big screens and very cool changing color room complete with the plasma TV's everywhere.

They served Capote-ni, Transamerica-ni and Brokeback Mountain-ni so basically the mixed drinks that they named for the event. Stoli is one of the sponsor. bar was excellent, food was great, crowd was okay but it was a blast.

I am so glad that PSH won for the best actor and RWS for the best actress and of course Ang Lee for best director for BBM. most definitely Crash for the best picture of the year, thought the movis was really great to watch and understand.

We stayed for about 2 hours since we had to work the next day and continued the show at our apartment.

Lotus Lounge 35 Clinton ...

So we decided today to hang out at Lotus Lounge on 35 Clnton to browse internet (free wi-fi) after dimsum in c-town and hung out in soho, got some cool stuff from kid-robot store in soho and got two free ultraman candles since the guy gave us a wrong price information.

This place is so cool .. a lot of hipsters as usual doing their thing, some of them just hand out and read and some of them browsing the internet just like we are doing now.

Today is so nice, deep blue sky not even a single clouds. Something about NYC that you can most of time find when the sun is shining bright and the wind is so cold at the same time. Loving it !

Saturday Morning Uptown

While Francis was at work (and writing that sweet cheesy blog heheh) I was at a cafe on 110th street / Columbus working. Brought the laptop up there and everything. I know you're probably thinking why I went all the way up there, it had free wi-fi and the croissants were the best in the city... yummy and buttery... hmmm

Afterwards I met up with F on 74th at Lenny's for lunch. F has been telling be about this place and how great their sandwiches were -- and yeah they were. Apparently they're opening another one on 25th between 5th and 6th so I can order lunch from there! :-)

We were stuffed after the sandwich, but when we walked back this cake shop, we just HAD to go in and check it out. Left with two cupcakes - hey we'll hit the gym tomorrow. :-)

Being 30 something ...

I know the title is a lil dramatic ! But that is exactly what I am going to write and share with you folks !

Being 30 something and living a life in one of the greatest city on earth make me really feel that I am 'complete' Having V as my partner for a lil over 3 years and share so much in our life in the past 3 years together was really really great ! I am so glad that I finally found a friend, a crime partner, a person that you can count on each and every day in your life. You feel very safe when you have somebody that you can talk 'shit' and be away too romantic at the same time. When I think back of that I have done a lot of stuff in the past decade, I didn't regret at all what I have said and done, it is part of growing up and really educate me in every way. I had met some good people and seriously, its kinda like a faith of life if you make an effort to keep in touch to the people that you really can count on, its well worth it !!

So we went to Splash Bar last night and took a picture of this 40 something woman who really into the 80's music that they played at the bar. She was dancing nonstop inside the bar and I was luck enough to take a picture of her, I asked if she was a lesbian but she is not ! She was by herself, enjoying the music and drink-dance at the same, she even asked our opinion, is it really bad for me ???

Look what I took a picture on the subway to work. Its a pink nasty dirty scarf that somebody had dropped on the floor.

SO I just had to put this on here, what's LA known for? celebs? the sun? coffee bean? the thing I think of when I think of LA is the trashy morning TV show on Fox - with anchors (can we even call them that?!?) dorothy, jillian and steve talking trash, where Star and InTouch are their bibles, and where the conflict between paris hilton and nicole richie gets SO MUCH more air time than the one in the middle east - I guess that's the priorities in LaLaLand - :-)

LA Trip

I came back to LA on Tues nite for a conference on Asian marketing. It was kinda weird to be back. Went out for drinks with my friend M and her biz partner. They shared this awesome technology with me and I definitely might wanna be involved in their venture... we'll see :-)

Staying at the LA Downtown Standard, one of the 'hippest' hotels in LA. The rooms are quite spacious (esp compared to NY) - and since I got the internet deal... cheap.

The rooms are a bit too hip/trendy for me although the roof bar is amazing! I mean, the bathroom doesn't even have a wall.

The shower wall is actually transparent glass which can be seen from the bed and the rest of the room. I can't imagine sharing this room with someone. Not even the tiniest bit of privacy! (the photos are a bit bad, my crappy treo doesn't great pix)

Tonight headed out for drinks with CB. Went to Akbar - a cool gay dive bar in Silverlake.

It was great to finally have a chance to catch up with CB on everything, from personal to business. He's like my family now and I really cherish him as a family/friend and is one of the few people in the world who I feel I can truly call a real friend.

So we forgot to mention that we saw Transamerica on Friday nite at the IFC. First of all, the west village theater rocks... i know it's been open for a year - but since F and I haven't been the most artsy-fartsy lately - haven't had a chance to check the theater out. The IFC actually has a restaurant on premise - with a full bar! We ordered BBQ nachos... yummy. BTW< for those of you who wanna check it out, here's a tip, if you eat at the restaurant, you won't have to LINE UP for the movie afterwards, they just usher you in when you show your receipt.

Anyways, the movie was really really good i thought, and not just because of the nude scenes from the cute actor who plays her son, but FHuffman was truly great. If Reese takes the award next Sun, I'd be pissed. She was definitely great!

So we started the beautiful day by swing the apple store and bought iBook G4 for myself (F) YAY ! I am using it now ..

It's about time for me to have a laptop, we are sharing it before but now I can definitely use it from wherever I want to.

We also had lunch at the pasta place in SOHO, amazing ! I think its our fifth time there. We were actually planning to go to HARLEM to try to the soul food that they recommend on channel 25 but it is a bit too far since we have to walk the babies to the park.

Today was gorgeous! A bit cold when its windy but the sun was shining bright, too bright made me wanna lie on the beach !
The two babies are so tired now, they are sleeping all day long.

Forgot to mention this Cuban Restaurant that we went to yesterday, their lunch was amazing, they are in the W. Village, see some pictures below that we took.

It is around 8P now and we are heading out to URGE to end the weekend and to pay out from last night since we stayed home and watched the pay per view of Darkwater, i think the end was a twist and that made the movie better than other 'us-japanese horror movies'

Last Day in Montreal

So the best part about our Montreal trip?? The HOTEL! F got us a Jr. Suite at ultra hip Hotel St. Paul for our vacation -- the room was amazing and love that fireplace in the lobby.

The subway is also one of its highlights -- clean, efficient, and smooth... The only trash we found on the tracks was a slice of pizza...which definitely can't happen in MY since the rats would have gotten to it already :-)))

So on our first nite (Fri) in Montreal, we headed to a cool restaurant called SALOON in the gay village... very clubby and chill - perfect for the first night!

Saturday was spent braving the cold and hanging out in their "underground mall" :-)

That night we checked out one of Montreal's "famous" attractions... a strip club! The difference between Canadian strip clubs and US ones is that they can be fully nude up north -- so we just HAD to check it out. It was like a gym locker room but with cocktails. TOo bad I couldn't take any pics to share with you -- guess you'll just have to go and check it out yourself. Went to a place called Campus - supposed to be the best one in town.

Sunday was our last day in Montreal. So it was like the coldest days here the past 2 days -- but sunday the weather warmed up a bit, so we headed out and walked around the city.

Of course no trip is complete without paying our respects at Chinatown...

The last stop on Sun was the Olympic stadium -- and the cool cable car up to the observatory.

The city is definitely gorgeous but because of the freezing weather this time around. Would like to visit again when it's warmer -- I'm sure the city would be much more lively!

Today is Monday, Pres Day. Heading to a biz trip in Chicago tomorrow -- fly fly again... can't wait to settle down a bit and spend some quality time at home with F and our two babies... :-)

We are so excited about visiting the 'other' part of French !
I've heard a lot of good thing about YUL. From the lively street, the awesome buildings, the 'village' mmmmhhhhh.....

Supposedly the weather will be really cold but we are ready ! We like it cold anyway.

It's been a busy week for me, glad to take a few days off. V finally came back from the WC on Tuesday night after a 'long' 10 days (yeah, he was stucked in SF because of the storm)

We will be enjoying Montreal for sure and can't wait to check out the St. Paul as well

Blizzard 2006 in NYC

Yes its finally came !!! We thought it will never happen this year, yeah right !
It is almost 4P now and its finally slowing down, the snow had been falling for over 24 hours now but the weosrt time was between midnight until noon today. Nearly 23 inches by Central Park this late morning. Wondering how I-95 looks like ?

V is still in SF (stucked ! ) they had cancelled all flights to and from 3 airports in NY. He will have to fly back home on Valentine's Day.

Not so much for me to do this weekend alone by myself except watched the WORST movie I ever saw like the house in the movie though When Stransgers Calls. It is so bad that you don't even know what is really they are telling to tell the movie watchers ? And why are we suppose to understand the f***ing story line ? Good that I watched also the FD III which was also bad, but kinda satisfied since I am the 'bad-horror movie' watcher !

See now all New Yorkers finally relieved that the blizzard is here, we were keep wondering why is it not coming yet ? Stop wondering and lets cheer up to the snow and play with it while its last because the next couple more days, its going to be the warm ones !

So the NY Fall Fashion Week had officially ended on Friday. I hope all the Fashionistas made the flight going to Milan for the next show. Imagine if they had to leave last night or today ? All the fashionistas are going to freak out especially those Models !

Biz Trip Week

I miss F alot this week... of course cause I've been on a biz trip all week this week -- hopefully F will read this and know how very much I miss him and Buffy and Rocky.

It's Wed nite in SF, after spending the last 2 days entertaining clients and speaking at a conference, I'm quite wiped out. Looking forward to a quiet but productive day at the hotel tomorrow actually. The weather in SF is NICE, it's about 70 degrees today - But can't enjoy it without my honey, heheh just not the same.

So we're planning a trip up to Montreal next weekend, I'm totally looking forward to it!! Mainly because i get to spend quality time with F... awww.. so sweet. :-)

So i was in vegas the past 2 days for a conference, and hung out with my clients at night. Last night I took him to see "Ka" the amazing Cirque De Solei at the MGM. It was truly amazing! The acrobatic skills and the special effects... wow!! Too bad it was a 10:30pm show after a non-stop day --- I was soooo tired. I think my client fell asleep for portions of it. heheh BUt truly though, it was really amazing... my first CdS show!

So now I'm in SF for the last part of my trip. Spent the nite with a couple of friends in LA who were here on business - my older 'sister' Sharon and her friend Michelle. It was great seeing both of them again -- it's been over 2 years since I saw Sharon. She looks the same, wild / happy / hot -- never changed since I met her over 10 years agO! She rocks but I know she's going thru shit and I just want her to be happy... hopefully one day...

So I had a free session from the gym with the personal trainer today and he made me do the push ups for like almost 50 times and jumping jack for 100 times !
It feels good but tiring at the same time especially for me. he taught me how to do some of the weights and also how not to bend over as much, try to actually use the legs like you try to sit to pick up stuff from the ground instead of bending over all the way and makes your back hurt.

Today was sunny and clear but too bad had to work and trapped inside, V is in Las Vegas now for work and I am planning our trip going to Montreal. Can't wait !

Do you guys know South Asia has three major sections ? I just watched some channel on TV and it really educated me how that Bangladesh became Bangladesh from East Pakistan before.
So basically West and East Pakistan were not going along because of the religions when West Pakistan is a moslem section and Hindhu's on the other side. So East Pakistan decided to change its name to Bangladesh and until now, whoever is a Moslem is living on the West Pakistana and East Pakistan is the other way around for Hindu and India is right in between them.

And also Israel is actually considered as a Europe section amongst the middle eastern's countries ?

Being living in NY for almost 2 years, it really open your eyes that are so MANY nationalities and cultures that really make you want to learn and find out. I remembered my high school's friend told me that (he reads newspaper in a daily basis by the way) you can find eery nationalities from A to Z in America, is that really true ????

Downgrade to Conan O'Brien (and his "clan")

So I was working at our client's (Verizon) Chinese New Year festival booth in Chinatown today - it was great, weather was nice (thought it was supposed to rain) and the sky was clear and crisp!

In the afternoon, a bunch of guys carrying 'hefty' camera equipment set up right next to our booth -- apparently shooting a sketch for Conan O'Brien -- you know the one with that ugly dog puppet (dun know the name -- never watch the show). They brought with them caged rabbits, cats, and a duck as part of the "act".

They were joking around with kids and older people who were checking out the festival -- asking them to do vulgar shit like "touch the balls" on the puppet etc. Of course the older people and kids didn't really know what was going on and played along. Then the camera guys had the puppet hump the caged animals they brought. It was horrendous and just plain NASTY -- especially offensive during Chinese New Year and at a family event!! So all I have to say is #$^#&*$^ to Mr. O'Brien and his freakin' crew -- I hope PETA gets word of this as well -- as they were treating the animals like shit.

Here's one of the Obrien clans-woman trying to 'tame' the cat (which looked totally freaked out) for the humping scene.

And when the Cops told the Obrien camera guys to get the hell outta there since they had no permit for a booth (they also got a MAJOR scolding from a festival attendee telling them how they are totally insulting the Chinese culture and totally disrespecting the culture).

wooo hoooo .... ! Its so deeply blue the sky today and I am ready to go out and about after the laundry though. V has already out since this morning for the CNY Parade and he had to take care of some stuff.

We saw Capote last night and I think the movie was okay but PSH was really good.

For those who knows who Glenn Fredly, I am sure you will like the song 'Kisah Romantis'(Romantic Story) from the OST Cinta Silver (Silver's Love) from Indonesia.

Love the song so much from the first time I heard it and keep repeating it from my shuffle, I even so pathetic, translated the lyric into english :)
Didn't have a chance to buy the whole album but will do when I visited home again.

Sat Morning

So met our friends for drinks at XL last night followed by dinner at La Bottega next door - amazing black squid linguini. yum O! Not really sure if alchohol is my 'thing' anymore because I always feel so crappy and nasty the next day --- not necessarily 'hung over' but really just 'blahhhh / no energy'.

So we've been going to this "new" (opened late last year) cafe just around the block called Falai (not the restaurant, but the new bakery). THe place is all WHITE (like the restaurant) and the coffee and baked goods are amazing. Very cozy atmosphere and great on a weekend morning to just sit and read the paper!

First Day of February and Work (for F)

It was cold today and first day to have my weekday lunch in the beautiful UWS. So yes, it is a block away from Central Park and right across from The Dinosaurs Museum but I don't feel like really 'home' maybe we have been spending a lot of time below 14th street, okay we go to uptown once in a while, really nothing really to do there ! no offense but for real, more stuff going on below 14th street.

Today went well, love the old office with the brick and surrounded by trees and the neighbourhood was really quite, not your typical LES :))

Another Sunny and Warm Day

Can you believe that ? I guess really last winter was really BAD !

I started my day today by not doing anything until like 11, went to gym for almost 1 hour and tried to pick up one of our bike that I parked close to Gramercy Park over the weekend and guess what ! somebody STOLE it ! such a bitttooocchhhh, whoever stole it, I hope that you will bike for the rest of your life anywhere you go !

This is the second bike that we lost, last year was at U-Square, I think I didn't lock it properly so I didn't feel as bad but this time I surely did lock it really well including the basket at the front of the bike but yet its still got stolen.
Oh well, I guess no biking at Spring this year :(

Got some stuffs from Urban Outfitters, they are having sale so its consider good deal although prices at this store are really 'not-worth-it'.

So tomorrow I will have another day off since I am between jobs now so I will make sure that I will enjoy it as much as I can. Supposedly windy and raining tomorrow so maybe catching movies would be the best bet, we'll see.

So today is the official first day of the year of dog and that means we are a year older.

I found a new job, for bigger and better and will start on Feb 1st which I like it a lot, its time to move on and its good to actually start a new job when its new year.
I feel definitely more professional in a way and really glad that got hired from the new company.

V had to work all weekend for the CNY and I voluntered a bit, bought some beautiful orchid and flowers from the Market, check it out.

Weather has been really weird, it was almost 60 degress yesterday but today is like barely even made it 50 degress.

We joined the gym by the way and can't wait to lose some pounds from the vacation that we took and also from the holiday and living healthy.

So yes it was about 63 degress this past Saturday, its really rare in this time of year I think. It was so different than last year when the blizzard happened.

We didn't do much this weekend, just walk around the city and tried to get rid of the apple store gift xertificate and everything that they sell in the store are not attracted. Check out the cases that we found in HK below.

We finally ended the weekend watched Underworld and Walk The Line, Thought JP and RW were great and they deserved the globes.

Disney HK

Ok, so I know we've been back for a few days now (still a little jetlagged... whimp I know), but in a way we haven't really updated all there is to update from our trip, hence the continuing 'saga'...

The last night in HK was especially memorable. After we flew back from Bali, we had to stay one more night in HK (transit) before our flight the next morning. we made the lucky call to choose the new Disneyland Hollywood Hotel close to the airport, and I'm glad we did -- even just for the experience.

Disneyland opened back in Sept and it was amazing to see the investment into the, not just the park, but the extension OUTSIDE of the actual park itself.

I thought the most amazing was the "Disney Subway" train which is actually a subway car converted to the disney-themed - all the way from the Mickey Mouse windows to Mickey Mouse handles on the railings.

The seats were converts to 'loungy couches' and there were gold statuettes of Disney characters on the train! It was really amazing!

The hotel was quite nice as well, everything was 'Disney' from the toothbrush to the combs and laundry bags -- it was definitely nice.

Anyways, that's about it for me -- again Asia was definitely great and it was nicer because Francis and I experienced it together... by the way my parents love him alot, which is that much better.

First Day Back from Asia

It's been a little over two weeks that we have been gone. We finally back to NYC.
It was a great trip for both of us, its always nice to see and hang out with family after all.

HK is really amazing, I like it a lot there ! People move like ants like when they are rushing for sugar, especially when its rush hour, the trains run almost every minute and the buses make you don't want across the streets.

Love how you scan the train card (octopus) instead of putting it in like most of them operate.

Malls are everywhere from one building to another, don't see a lot of dogs though, think its because of the rule that can't bring animals inside the mall because definitely can't walk them around the city.

I was there almost 10 years ago and didn't really realized the buildings are back to back and they are mostly really tall ! And the '8P Light Show' ? It was a blast ! Imagine like all of those buildings between HK and Kowloon are talking to each other with the lights and sound/narrator for the good 15 minutes !

We are planning to move there maybe in the next 6 months and I am so ready for it !

Now let me tell you guys about how Jakarta had changed in the past decade. Money are like the monopoly ones. Even my sister sometimes can't tell which is which. They are very colorful and you just have to be careful with the 'zeros'.

I got to hang out with the whole family which is very nice and to see my nephew and the two nieces. Never met them by the way since they were born.

I still have the same feeling overall about the city, but it had growth so much, so many apartments had been built and also the freeways, Starbucks are everywhere but the polution will never dissapear there.

After a short 'long' stay in Jakarta, I finally met Vince in Bali. The weather was gourgeous in the first couple of days which was perfect since we did all the tour on the second day.

We went to everywhere as far as UBUD on the north part of the island and Tanjung Benoa on the south part of the island. Bali is very tropical and touristy. I was there almost about 12 years ago and can't remember since how it looked like. Its humid and the tropical rain comes in and out (Dec-Apr is the rainy season in Indonesia).

We did the gay massage, nothing really sexual of course but it was good and relaxing on the third day we were there.

The food was FAB. miss it already.

Last Day In HK

So today marks the beginning of the END of our vacation :-) I'm leaving HK tomorrow morning for the last part of our vaca in Bali, I'll be meeting Francis there.

So far this trip has been quite a reflective one for me personally. Not only has my parents met (and love) Francis, I finally realized now that my ever-so-infrequent visits back home has become sooo much of a pattern that it's become almost pathetic that I haven't moved back.

Every time I visit, my mom keeps introducing me to the security people in the building because she's 'proud' of her grown-up son. The trip also involves lunching, meeting, and then finally saying 'bye bye' to my childhood cousins (how in their late 20s/30), and every time it is peppered with my emphatical promise that I will return to HK for good to be with home with my mom. But I often head back to the States, fall back into a routine, and then anxiously await and plan my next visit home...

I'm not sure, but this time it seems quite apparent that I will move back to HK soon (or perhaps this just might be another spout of 'guilt'). Maybe now that Francis is somewhat open to the idea of coming to HK to live, it just might push me over the edge. I know it's not fair for my parents that, as the only child, I'm gone for so long. But I also know there will be something I miss alot from the US, especially NY, if I move back here. I am torn, but I also have a feeling that things will resolve themselves very soon. Just look at how quickly it look F and I to make a decision to move from LA to NY...? It's entirely possible!

Ok, so how cool is this? Just went to tea dance at club 97 with Francis. It was cool, a bit smokey but was fun nonetheless. Very cool to hang at a club in ASIA where any non-Asian are actually the visitors and outsiders... vs. the U.S. Anyways, we also saw the cool 'light show' at the harbor tonite. It was nice, very romantic.

I'm actually updatin our blog from the Central subways station -- they actually have a free internet broadband kiosk at the station for anyone to use... how cool is THAT?? anyways, we'll update with pictures later. Ciao and have a great nite!!

Hong kong here we are!!

So yes, we have been in HK for almost 5 days now and loving it !
Did some touristy stuff and just walk around the city. Met v's parents at the very first time, they live in the NEW Teritory which is very nice and quite and it is not too far away from the city with the KCR train takes about 20 minutes.

Love the MRT here, they are so clean and fast, especially when its rush hours, people are just so many everywhere you go. The best part is that it's sparkling clean and quiet and smooth, unlike NY's rickety rat-infested version.

Starbucks is everywhere here, we are now at the Pacific Coffee which obviously a competitor of Starbucks ! They have a free internet which is great ! The starbucks pastry case serves the most amazing looking baked goods, flaky ham and cheese/tuna stuffed croissants. But starbucks in HK is even more expensive than NYC!! Over $3 USD for a grande drip, can you believe that?? Here's a pic I took of their pastry case (got a little scolding on the side "no pictures sir..." heheh enjoy)

We are on our way to see the Peak and the weather has been really nice here around 60-65 f day time and around 50 f night time.

We are still getting over our jetlag so sometimes we had to sleep in the middle of the day and wake up in the middle of the night !

Food is great here ! Dimsums are everywhere ! LOVE IT !

Yes, finally its the day that ends the year. We are very exciting since we will be on the plane to HK (got a business class upgrade from my 'people' from CX)
We started this blog back in September and it feels nice to look back of what we have experienced so far and we documented everything in a fun way !

The weather is colling down a bit and I am pretty sure when we get back to NYC in a couple of weeks, the snow has came down.

We will miss our babies for sure but they will be fine since theu have each other.

Counting Down

Not to the new year, but to our long-overdue vacation back to Asia. This vaca means so much to me, I have not spent quality time with my parents for over a year and haven't seen the rest of my family for almost 3. Let's look back real quick before its too late what have we done in 2005 !
I like to sometimes think what have I done in the past and learn from it, aren't we all ?? They said anything happens for a reason, is it really true ? Stop the crap ! Let's us tell you what we have done last week.

We started the Friday before Christmas walk around the city and feel the spirit of the Holiday. Saturday was a good day, as far as I remembered, the weather was nice ( a bit cloudy but still nice and warm)-imagine in the last week of December, it was 55 degress. We strolled around C-Park with our babies, they were so happy finally got to go out and smelled the trees/leaves and walk around the park.

We tried the Pastis in MPD on Christmas eve and thought the food was okay (blamed it on Rachel Ray).

It was pretty a quiet weekend for us, good to relax and prepared ourself before heading out to Asia.

The weather was pretty warm and no, we didn't have a white christmas this year instead a wet ones ! So we decided to watch the 'movies' which were Family Stone, Fun with D and J and also Memoirs of Geisha (kong) :)

Got some stuff after christmas's sale but seriously we experienced all the time, the sale in NYC happens all the time and after christmas is not the best sale ever and considering have to line up for the register, you really think it twice !

For some reason both F and I were not 100% feeling the Christmas spirit this year. We didn't get gifts and didn't get a tree, and in the last effort to not end up being a jaded and bonafide GRINCH, we decided to head uptown to see if we can soak up as much Xmas spirit as possible -- and it worked!

Talk about Xmas Spirit, headed out last night to 5th Ave post-Transit-strike and boy were the streets filled with HOLIDAY SPIRIT. This is what a "New York Christmas" is all about - the only thing missing is the snow... But the weather was amazing, clear and cool but comfortable.

Went to check out the Bryant Park Skating rink - I believe it's free and sponsored by Citibank!

But the displays at Bergdorf were amazing, blended fashion with fantasy and were actually out of this world!!

Party and Pop-Up Wired

Last night was my company party. It was at a cool moroccan themed bar / lounge in midtown called Kemia. Beautiful place -- which just got more and more beautiful as the night went on (ie. open bar...) Everyone danced, including my bozz Z. He rocked the house with his family -- how sweet is that?!

For a company party, it was definitely a blast. I guess I work with people who work hard and play hard as well!!

Today the weather was amazing, gorgeous morning -- actually quite warm. Went to this place called 12 Chairs for brunch -- amazing falafel and hummus... yum-O. No pics to share with you because Francis was embarrassed to take out the camera...oh well! :-)

Anyways, we spotted Alec Baldwin pacing back and forth outside of the restaurant twice, first time he was on the phone, then about 10 minutes later he came back again going the same direction... the poor guy looked lost.

Headed to soho to do some Xmas shopping and bumped into E's friend Mizz R @ Crate&Barrel, then headed over to Adidas to try our luck with their 'locker' promotion - didn't win anything but since "Everyone's a winner" (according to the overly-cheerful promo gal) got a couple of nice wristbands... hey better than nothing. :-)

Afterwards we went to another pop-up store, this time it was for WIRED. I think I'm addicted to pop-up stores, they are so... well 'temporary but fabulous'. I love that! And knowing that it won't last forever makes you wanna really spend quality time to check everything out - it's like gallery openings but for shoppers. This one even had a gift bag!

Broke 'gay' Mountain

Amazingly most of the 'people' of the movie got nominated for Golden Globe, I thought they were okay, especially for Michelle Williams, seriously how could she got it ? I don't even remember where was the last time I saw her on TV, I know she was on Dawson Creek like a decade ago, its not like I watched it too so whatever !

It's really slowing down here in the office since all of my clients are starting going back wherever they are originally from ! A lot of people moved to NYC from Boston, they all said Boston is pretty boring, of course if you compare it with NYC, I am not saying NYC is the capital of the world, there are so many cities in the globe and all of them have their own character, but we love NYC, at the end of the day, NYC is still one of the best city in the globe.

Snow is coming agin this evening supposedly it will mix with rain and it will become ice when it touched the groundso if you see the weather on TV they will say it rain/ice/snow, interesting eh ?

So we are counting down for the Asia trip, we are so excited and this is going to be my first time back home in 8 years ! Can't wait to see my family and some good friends and definitely seeing Vince's parent for the very first time.

From Manhattan to Brooklyn

After a long relaxing evening last night and a FAB. tea time although that was a lot of food we ordered with our Brit's friend 'E', we started the week considering to move to Brooklyn. YES ! We are excited, many reasons we have to make that decision, space, new area, dogs (we feel LES is a bit dirty for our babies), and definitely $$$
We are thinking that we can get definitely have a much bigger space with the rent that we pay now in Manhattan.
And also its a lot quiter there and good to relax, at the same time its only subways away to the island.

We thought the island has so many things to offer but every neighbourhood has the same stores/kind of restaurants/list of movies etc. And we have been living here in the island for a little over a year and it is time for us to check out other 'areas'. Seriously when you are out and about every weekend and some week nights, you really know what to expect although Meat Packing/West Village are the hardest two areas ever as far as the street names goes. I am not too worry about downtown NYC, what's in there anyway ?

So we are thinking about moving in the next few months, maybe on Spring time. Not sure where exactly yet, but definitely some place close to the subways.

The Brownstones look very attractive and also the private gardens there so we can actually leave out our babies there to enjoy the sun/grass. Can't wait !

16 days to Xmas

Ho Ho Ho ..
Exactly ! That is what Santa normally shout ! Is he for real ? I used to think that he is the one who always gives me gifts when I was little and we had this habit that on xmas eve, we will put our shoes in front of our room (nice and neat okayyyyy !!!) and the next morning, we will get our gifts right besides the shoes, isn't cute ?

SO the snow came down again for the second time on Friday and I had to be at work by myself for the first hour, luckily all the european clients are not calling like crazy, it was cool. What so cool about NY is the next hour after its raining/snowing like crazy, once the clouds passed by, you will see the most picture perfect in the sky and wait until you take a deep breath, You will appreciate more of the rain.

We started our weekend to use of the deck card again and that is one of the excuse to try a new restaurant so we ended up spent the evening at this cozy little restaurant at Chelsea called Tello. A little tiny italian restaurant which was amazing and the plus is we got $10 off the bill ! The food was FAB. and the restaurant was packed with gay crowds. It was a blast !

The snow mostly had melted today but its still cold and the sky is a bit cloudy. We walked around the city like usual and feel the xmas spirit, people are all around stores from Soho to Chelsea. Something about New Yorkers, no matter how cold and slushy is outsied, they are still out and about and seemed like they don't care at all, it is snowing so what ! we have to go out and enjoy all the excitement that the city always has, especially for the Holiday Seasons. I recalled last year when it was a blizzard outside, we had to go out and feel the first blizzard in NY and there were so many people out and about.

So we went to this Vosgez Haute Chocolat in Soho and had these amazing hot chocalates, I got the regular mint ones and Vince got the Spicy Cinnamon. They cost $5 per cup, but I think its worth it.

Check out this Union Square Christmas Store's crowd, although its kinda wet the ground because of the melted snow, we couldn't even move properly, we needed to really bump into each other shoulders to get from one tent to another. It is an annual event at U-Square.

Project Runway Paaaty

Ok, so tonite we braved the below-freezing weather and actually headed out on a weeknight to one of Francis's party --- the seasons ultimate reality-tv-slash-fashion party ... no not america's next top model... the second runner up...

heidi's Project Runway premire party at the Aer Lounge at Meatpacking sponsored by Elle and Banana Rep... (Thanks GOD for the sponsors... ie. decent giftbags)

The place was packed -- I guess it made sense since it seems everyone in the world was a sponsor including banana republic, miramax, bravo, elle, and l'oreal. Supposedly, the 'movers and shakers' of the "industry" were there.

Can't complain, open bar + food... including shitake mushroom cups, steak prosiutto (i know i spelled it wrong), chicken satay (ho-hum)... wish they had those amazing mini burgers like they did at the p-diddy event last week... those were yummy!

The place was swarmed with models old and new like Iman and others I only know by face but not by name -- (what do u expect... they're models) - surprisingly the queer eye folks weren't there! Perhaps they're pissed they might be cancelled...

So people overlooking eachother's shoulders watching the TIVO'ed version of tonite's premiere... we really didn't bother.

Also, spotted last year's PRunway's winner... that fat guy - forget his name... SOOO apparently he's really a big rice queen!!! :-) We spotted him with this Asian guy and he shouted out loud "I'm a RICE QUEEN!" in the middle of the party. How totally embarrassing!!! :-)

THe party was ok, free drinks and amazing finger food -- i Loved the steak !!! Anyways, the best part is the $50 gift certificate we got from Banana Republic. :-)))))

First Day of Snow in Manhattan

Yes it was ! It finally came down for the first time. It was really nice and it did came earlier than last year. This one is from our backyard.

After a great FAB. night, we decided to go to Central Park to witness the real white snow, it was very dramatic, you can totally see the branches of the trees covered with snow but then at the same time you also knowledge that some of the branches are still have leaves which make it very wonderful feelings, is it really winter yet ? or its just the matter the snow just want to come down early this year for the New Yorker ????

Either way, it was still a blast for us, hopefully we will have a White Christmas this year.

We decided not to get a real christmas tree this year since we will be going to Asia in less than 1 month (and YES, we are so excited !!!) but check it out our 'tree' this year and yet compare it with the one last year.

Big E Bday

So it's officially winter -- at least FEELS like Winter! We were promised snow tonite but it's 1:30 and doesn't look like it's gonna happen :-)

Anyways, had a great day today roaming around the city taking in the holiday spirit - all the way from Herald Square down to Chelsea. Went to a sample sale today -- got some cool stuff -- couldn't resist although we totally VOWED to cut down on needless shopping...

We then headed home - turned on some Xmas music and lit some candles -- talk about getting in the mood for the holidays.

Still debating whether to buy a Xmas tree this year though...

Went to see Aeon Flux afterwards in USquare, amazing special effects, not much of a storyline. Can I just say Charlize is smoking hot -- even to a couple of a gay guys!

So today is our brit buddy E's Big 3-0 birthday. Went to good old Highline in Meatpacking for dinner, the wait was FOREVER (over 1 hour even with a reservation), but everyone ended up having a blast.

The waitresses were fab considering they were overbooked. At least they offered us wine and appetizer for free!

All in all, a great nite and the most important thing is that I think E had fun. Another eventful Sat. nite in the books! :-)

Diddy"s Girls Out Event at SAKS

So today is the first day of Decembear and we are so counting for the New Year. After a FAB trip to SF (it's our 3rd year anniv by the way), we are back in NYC and we both are so glad to be back and do our 'regular' stuff which one of them is parteeeeee !

Spent the evening after work checked out the 'christmas tree' at Rock. Center which they lit last night until Jan 7th. We are planning to get the christmas tree this weekend.

SO I got this invitation from work to attend P.Diddy event at Saks, we got there a little late but the party has just started, the drinks were okay but the crowd is very fashionist, its too good to be GAY sometimes and dressed differently in our own way, always like to be the center of the attention, stands out so well amongst others with the attitudes.

Love the decor, they have these tubes with three different colors (white, silver and clear) so its kinda looks like mirror but its actually you can see other people behind it.

SO yes, He finally showed up just right before we left, check out the pictures below.

Finally SF Trip - Documented

So finally after a week break from the blog - we're back on again! As you guys know we headed to SF this last week to celebrate TG weekend with our old buddies on the WC. But before we headed out, actually went to a local karaoke bar in Chinatown with E and his buddy A. We haven't sung karaoke in a while and it was a blast! the drinks weren't bad either!

After K, we headed to G lounge for a quick drink before heading home.

So SF was a bit gloomy when we first got there, but the view from our hotel as amazing! And talk about location location location -- right smack in Union Square!

The next morning the weather totally cleared up, absolutely GORGEOUS! Had breakfast at U-Square (some touristy joint)...

then went thrift store shopping (love that!) and got some funky scarfs and this cool bomber jacket at Haight/Asbury.

Afterwards that night, we headed to our friend's place for a 'traditional' Thanksgiving dinner. The couple D and P cooked (well I think P did most of the actual cooking) a JUICY turkey and even had Chinese and Western stuffing!

The next morning the weather was even more amazing -- just atypical SF weather, not a cloud in sight.

Met up with our friend M for a sushi lunch at the Sunset district and then browsed... ahem... a discount store which I shall not name or else M will have my head!

That night, hung out at Castro and club hopped...with friends. Great seeing everyone again and even our Brit Buddy E was in town!!

Anyways, the trip was amazing and I understand now why the song "I left my heart in SF" is oh so true... love it there...

Exhausted and back in NYC - cabbing back from the airport at 2am in the morning. Whew! What a ride and loved every minute of it!

Burrr...jetting off to the WCoast

So, we got passes to see the MOVIE version of RENT this past Monday -- now I'm totally addicted to the soundtrack. haven't purchased a CD in god knows how long, I actually shelled out $15 bucks for the soundtrack at Virgin. Interesting that we just saw the Bway show last weekend and can totally compare and contrast the two. The movie version seems... shall I say...so sterilized. The set is a bit TOO perfectly groomed to be grimey-LES although I found out it was shot in San Francisco -- hey, at least it wasn't shot in some backlot in the Valley... Anyways, I think that living in the area where the story was based made me much more critical.

I kinda became one of those annoying guys who kept whispering "East village doesn't look like that... which block are they referring to?!?" Kept questioning the authenticity of the piece. I did fall in the love with the music and Francis can't get "Seasons of Love" out of his head... as he keeps singing it... all night. :-) ANyways, we got the free pass to see it so can't complain.

Last night was our 'pre-SF/Thanksgiving-NY-dinner' out at one of our fave restaurants in our area the Clinton Baking Co. Tues is their $15/bottle wine day and so we ordered a bottle of riesling to toast our upcoming vacation. We're normally not big wine-ies (def not as much as we are foodies or, for me, "cocktail-ies"), but last night we gave in.

This place, if you've never been, is one of the most relaxing and comfy restaurants around. You totally feel like you are having dinner at a friend's home -- that is if your friend is a master chef who cranks out gourmet butter fried chicken and biscuits flakier than we are (per our brit friend E).

The place was buzzing last night but it never feels overly busy and the prices are quite reasonable for the area. Def. recommend trying it out -- and not just for brunch!

The Rockettes Christmas Spectacular

So it was really like it said, spectacular ! although we were sitting a bit far but the good thing is since the dancers are more than you can ever imagine, it makes it well worth it that you can see all the movements. THey even have the real camles and donkeys at on the stage !

The costumes were amazing and also the set itself and how they make the stage so cool with the lightning and also the colorful stuff. Its just a bit strange when they ended it with a pretty religious scene.

We went with two other friends of ours E and R afterwards we headed to our neighborhood and had thai food at SEA.

I really feel starting today like a holiday already, can't wait for our SF trip and see some old friends and i am talking about the real friends, okkkayyyyyy !
I know it would be a great trip, hope the weather will be dry, don't mind if its cold, SF always gets cold anyways. Being living there for 5 years, I know exactly how to expect in general, October is the BEST month to visit if you like the sun.
The last time when we were there, it was exactly 17 months ago and we didn't do much since we were there only for a day for the gay pride which was well worth it as well since that time we have decided to move to NY and it was nice to see some friends before we leave the west coast but yet, we eventually will visit again (we told them) and YAY, we are going to !

So today the weather forecast should be around the same as yesterday but tomorrow its going to be a wet ones but oh well, at least the weekend was really nice !
Its been really weird actually the weather in NY this year, especially the month of October and November and I've heard the snow is coming sooner than usual so maybe we will have a white christmas. Hopefully the snow is not going to be ever like it happened before on the year of 1888.

Counting down to the day when we jet outta here and back to SF to spend thanksgiving with our friends. Already there are a couple parties we are invited to -- so pretty excited.

Anyways, had a great Fri nite with a bunch of new friends we met at Ang's house party last weekend. Went to this french brasserie last nite - was fun. We were such an 'international' group - between the 7 of us we represented Asian, Black, Hispanic, Indian, and White... :-)

The place was packed, the food was ok - the company was good tho. The girl who actually invited us to the dinner works at a production company and she and Francis totally click - since they have the same type of clientele.

This morning we walked across the Wburg bridge by our house to Wburg.

We rarely venture over to Brooklyn altho it's like super hipster-ville (the L platform at Bedford looks like an underground hipster bar... I swear, if I had no shame -- which I really don't, I would have taken a pic of those 'hipsters' at the station and posted on here heheh).

We had lunch at a cool little restaurant -- great french toast sandwich and really amazing turkey cobb salad! And they have this interesting decoration on the shelf behind the bar -- which I just HAD to take a pic of.

So I got a good tip last night at dinner, about the benefits of green-drinks and organic / fresh food. I'm on a desperate search to adopt a healthier regimen - including eating consistent meals and eating healthiers in general. So we headed to this place called Pure Juice on 17th & Irving Pl for a greenie + ginger (as per recommended) -- and Francis got a fruitie + ginger.

Honestly my greenie didn't taste very good (doesn't look appetizing either huh?), but I did feel refreshed and more energized (less tired) after downing it.

Afterwards, we saw Harry Potter in U.Square - it was alright. Harry and his friends are definitely growing up - and quite a bit of sexual innuendos (sp??) with Harry taking a bath with a girl ghost etc...

I think the next one will have Harry making out or even losing his virginity. Also in this sequel, his friend Ron is acting more like his lover... :-) Very similar to the homoerotism of Lord of the Rings (brotherly love....? wink wink)

Afterwards tried sushi at this place in E-Village. Next block over they are shooting the new film Super ExGirlfriend with Uma Thurman (I think). The sushi was actually one of the better ones I had in NYC, and they have a great pre-7pm prix-fix. Yum-O!

death of another great restaurant

Hey everyone, so after a few days hiatus -- since our cable box was down for the longest time -- I hate Time Warner Cable. :-PPP It's about time we switch to dsl or something.

Anyways, tonite we were gonna go for dinner with some friends at Kitchen & Cocktails, a West Coast 'transport' that opened here on the LES about a year ago, but when we called to make a reservation... low and behold the message was a guy who announced "we regret that we have closed our doors..." how sad... I guess it's tough to survive in NYC, especially in such a trendy area. We went once and their food was actually amazing -- and the price was great! *which is prolly the problem... too affordable...

Anyways, gonna have a great weekend. Will see the Rockette's xmas show on Sun nite, I know sounds cheesy but we're totally excited!

RENT

So yes finally we saw it with a very spontaneous way. We were planning to do it before the movie comes up. The story is about bunch of friends who lived together in the Lower East Side Industrial Loft almost a little over a decade ago.

The stage was amazing, it really makes you feel that how LES looked like a decade ago although I don't really want to know since I have 'heard' some not as pretty happened in LES even like 5 years ago. So being living in the LES for a little over a year now, we realy appreciate what they are really look like now.

The show itself was FAB. All of the casts have a very good voice, I had to say some part of the show, they were kinda yelling instead of singing, if you know what I mean but overall its a great show.

It was really an eventfull evening for us, we actually felt a little tired/hangover from the night before but after a quick nap and a good PHO soup on Grand street, we were ready to spend the Sunday Evening. WE went to this Turkish Rest, although the food I thought wasn't as good as we thought it would be but the price is great (the pre fixed Broadway Show Dinner).

The way a NYorker can find the excuse to do cheesy 'touristy' activities without feeling like a loser is to check things out when they first open. With that said, we decided to go to the new Top of the Rock at the Rockefeller Center last night - which opened back on Nov 1st. To all you guys, we say it's quite worth it... at least just for the experience.

Headed to Dream Hotel for a drink afterwards... Love their cool and quirky lobby -- reminds me of alice in wonderland -- with mis-matched furniture and strange ornament displayed... check this stuff out! Looks like a circus fun house :-)
